Funcom is excited to announce a major free update for Dune: Awakening, one of the top-selling new games on Steam in 2025. Alongside the update, a new paid downloadable content pack, Raiders of the Broken Lands, is also available. This update significantly expands and improves the open-world survival game, which is based on Frank Herbert’s Dune and the recent blockbuster film series.
Chapter 3 Free Update: Bigger and Better Endgame
Chapter 3 brings a major update many players asked for: a more extensive and rewarding endgame experience. After reaching Tier 6, you can now continue to improve your character, perfect your strategy, and specialize in the way you play.
Importantly, players can now progress meaningfully through PVE-focused content.
Chapter 3 introduces a significant expansion to the endgame, featuring a revitalized Landsraad, extensive new ways to progress, and robust options for customizing your gear.
Okay, so the update dropped and I’m super excited! They’ve added ten completely new areas to explore. It’s not just about finding them once either – these zones, like the open areas and Imperial Testing Stations, are built for endgame stuff. You can keep going back for tougher and tougher challenges, which is awesome. Basically, it’s a lot more replayability!
As a big fan, I’m really excited about the new Landsraad Missions! Basically, you can now do missions over and over again that help you level up your faction, improve your standing with the Great Houses, and earn some awesome, exclusive rewards. It’s a great way to keep progressing and getting cool stuff!
Players can now customize how they play the game by choosing from five different progression paths: Crafting, Gathering, Exploration, Combat, and Sabotage. These paths allow you to focus on the skills and activities you enjoy most.
A new Augmentation System lets you improve powerful Tier 6 weapons and armor using Augments crafted at the Augmentation Station. This enhanced gear is available for all players to use.
As a player, I’m super happy to hear that base taxes are gone! It was always a pain to run to the Social Hubs just to pay them, and now we can keep all that Solaris to spend on things that actually help us improve our bases and gear. This is a fantastic change!
We’re helping players return to the game with a special support package! If you’ve been away for a while, you’ll receive a bundle of resources tailored to your progress, making it easier to jump back in and continue playing.
• Two new weapons and a rework
We’ve added two new weapons – the Pyrocket and Dual Blades. We’ve also completely redesigned the Rapier.
• New Story Chapter
Chapter 3 continues the story right after the events of Chapter 2, offering players many more hours of gameplay and a reunion with a familiar character.
Raiders of the Broken Lands Paid DLC: More Stuff to Build With
A new free update, Chapter 3, is available now, and with it comes the “Raiders of the Broken Lands” DLC. This DLC, included with the Season Pass, delivers what players have been asking for – more building options! It introduces a brand-new set of 74 building pieces and 17 decorations, all themed around the Imperium’s Smugglers. You’ll also find a special stillsuit outfit, light and heavy armor, new weapon styles, customization options, and emotes.
Chapter 3 of Dune: Awakening is now available to play for free. If you want even more content, you can buy the Raiders of the Boken Lands DLC for $9.99. Alternatively, you can get it as part of the Season Pass, which costs $24.99 or €24.99.
