I was really excited to see how Illumination handled Princess Peach in The Super Mario Bros. Movie. They clearly took inspiration from Super Smash Bros., giving her a cool new power-up. It’s fantastic to see her break away from the classic ‘damsel in distress’ role and become a total action hero, fighting right alongside Mario and Luigi. Anya Taylor-Joy really brought that strength to life, and it’s been a key part of how they’ve reimagined the Mushroom Kingdom so far.
A new promotional clip for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie highlights Princess Peach and her signature parasol abilities. The short commercial, first shared online by X user Portal S Mario, ties into the upcoming Winter Olympics and shows Peach gracefully floating down with her pink umbrella before demonstrating her ice skating skills.
Fans of the Super Smash Bros. games will immediately recognize this parasol as a familiar item. In the series, Princess Peach uses it to launch herself upwards, then gently float back down.

The idea of floating with an umbrella actually comes from the game Super Mario RPG, originally released for the Super Nintendo. In this classic 1996 role-playing game, Mario uses an umbrella to float down from tall towers while escaping the castle – a memorable scene in the game.
Since its first appearance, her parasol has been featured in every game in the Super Smash Bros. series. It’s also popped up in several Mario games, including those in the Yoshi’s Island and Paper Mario series.

The first trailer for the new Super Mario Bros. Movie showed fans that Princess Peach has a unique weapon: a fancy parasol she uses to fight enemies, like ninjas. Leaked images of merchandise also reveal she carries the parasol with her.

I’m really excited for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie – it hits theaters on April 1st! From what I understand, it’s another adventure with Chris Pratt voicing Mario, and this time he’s going into space to battle Bowser Jr. It’s a collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination, so I’m expecting something visually stunning and fun.

Princess Peach’s Role in the Super Mario Galaxy Movie

The new Super Mario Galaxy Movie puts Princess Peach right in the middle of the adventure. She’s not just waiting to be rescued anymore – she’s an active participant in the fight against Bowser and his army, working alongside Mario and Luigi.
The first Super Mario Bros. Movie featured Princess Peach fighting with Mario and Luigi, but the next film might be different. Recent glimpses show Peach and Toad embarking on their own journey, separate from the Mario brothers.
To defeat Bowser Jr., the team might need to divide, with Peach embarking on a separate journey through space. Fans have guessed this could be a chance for Peach to learn more about her identity, and some believe the movie might finally reveal a connection between Peach and the new character, Rosalina.
Now that Rosalina has joined the team, she and Peach could be a powerful pair battling Bowser Jr. and any other villains in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.
