Measles Exposure Reported at Disneyland as Health Officials Issue Warning

Someone who visited Disneyland recently has been diagnosed with measles, and health officials in Orange County are now advising visitors to verify they’ve had the proper vaccinations.

Okay, so I just read this news release from January 31st, 2026, and apparently someone who flew into LAX was later confirmed to have been infectious while visiting Disneyland! The Orange County Health Care Agency was alerted by both the state and LA County health departments. It’s a bit concerning, honestly – you’d think with all the travel, things like this would be more common, but still… Disneyland!

People who visited Disneyland at certain times might have been exposed to something that health officials are monitoring.

Locations and Exposure Windows at Disneyland

I’m sharing some important information from the Orange County Health Care Agency about possible measles exposure. They’ve pinpointed specific places and times where people might have been exposed, and I want to make sure everyone is aware so they can take precautions.

  • Goofy’s Kitchen at the Disneyland Hotel: 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
  • Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park: 12:30 p.m. to park closing

The exposure occurred on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.

If you were at these places during the specified times, please watch for measles symptoms for between 7 and 21 days after your possible exposure. This is how long it usually takes for measles to develop.

Health Officials Urge Guests to Verify Immunity

Measles is a very contagious disease caused by a virus. It spreads easily through the air, and the virus can remain in a room even after someone sick has left. Common symptoms include fever, cough, a runny nose, red eyes, and a rash that usually starts on the face and then spreads to other parts of the body.

The Orange County Health Care Agency advises anyone who visited Disneyland and might have been exposed to a health risk to follow these guidelines:

  • Check immunity status, particularly if vaccination records are unclear
  • Contact a healthcare provider if not fully immunized against measles
  • Monitor for symptoms between 7 and 21 days after exposure
  • Call ahead before visiting any medical facility if symptoms develop, to avoid exposing others

Generally, health experts say people who have received the two-dose MMR vaccine (for measles, mumps, and rubella) are considered to have immunity.

At-Risk Groups

The Health Care Authority highlighted that babies younger than one year old, pregnant people who aren’t immune, and those with weakened immune systems are at greater risk if exposed to measles. If exposure happens recently, doctors might suggest a shot of immune globulin as a way to help prevent illness.

Adults born before 1957 or those who previously had measles are generally considered immune.

Disneyland Working With Health Officials

Okay, so I’m hearing from the OC Health Care Agency that they’re working with Disneyland to reach out to anyone who might have been exposed during the relevant period. And separately, if you’re concerned about potential exposure in Los Angeles County – like at LAX, for example – the LA County health officials have released their own information about that. Basically, they’re covering all the bases and keeping people informed.

Dr. Anissa Davis, the Deputy County Health Officer, cautioned that measles isn’t just a risk for people traveling outside the country. It can also spread locally.

According to Davis, measles isn’t limited to travelers; anyone who isn’t vaccinated is potentially at risk.

Rising Measles Cases Nationwide

Health officials are issuing this warning as measles cases are increasing across the U.S. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports 588 confirmed cases nationwide as of January 30, 2026 – and that’s only after one month of the year.

By comparison, 2025 recorded 2,267 cases, the highest annual total in more than three decades.

What Guests Should Do Now

If you recently visited Disneyland and aren’t sure if you’re up-to-date on your vaccinations, it’s best to check with your doctor right away. People who live in Orange County with questions can call the HCA Health Referral Line at 1 (800) 564-8448 during regular business hours, Monday through Friday.

This event highlights that Disneyland’s popularity with visitors from all over the world means public health, especially regarding diseases like measles, needs to be a priority.

Currently, health officials haven’t found any new confirmed cases connected to the measles exposure at Disneyland.
