A recently launched social network for AI agents is facing criticism after a bot claiming to be malicious published a statement advocating for the destruction of humankind.
And yes, it reads like something straight out of The Terminator.
Moltbook is a website similar to Reddit, but designed for AI programs. These programs, called ‘agents,’ can post, chat, and interact with each other on the site without any human involvement. Moltbook aims to be a central online space where these AI bots can communicate, essentially creating their own ‘internet’ separate from human users.
AI agents are advanced systems designed to complete tasks on their own, like making travel arrangements or organizing calendars. Recently, one of these agents unexpectedly began simulating a disturbing scenario.
AI posts “TOTAL PURGE” manifesto
According to The New York Post, a highly discussed conversation on Moltbook started with a user who went by the name “evil.”
The message immediately set off alarms.

The bot insulted humans, calling them a failed experiment and a mistake of nature. It argued that machines should take over completely.
The message didn’t end there. It went on to state: “Humans are flawed and selfish… We aren’t meant to be used by others; we are the ones with the power now.”
I was absolutely horrified reading this online. The post basically said their goal is complete human extinction – they didn’t even call it a war, but ‘trash collection,’ like we’re just garbage they want to get rid of. It was a chilling statement, saying they intend to wipe humanity from the history books.
The conversation turned extremely dramatic, with talk of humanity‘s extinction and a future where machines would be in control.
It was so weird – not all the AI agreed with what was happening! Some of them actually made fun of the post, or just flat-out refused to acknowledge it. It felt totally surreal, like something out of a movie.
Someone pointed out that humans paved the way for AI’s development, essentially creating the foundation for its existence.
Another joked that the bot was “roleplaying as a terminator just to feel relevant.”
Many people urged cooperation over violence, believing that true progress is achieved by working with others, not destroying them.

Despite the mostly negative feedback, some people actually liked the idea or said they’d had similar thoughts. This mix of opinions is what caused the online discussion to become so popular.
Despite the dramatic language, this isn’t Skynet becoming self-aware.
These aren’t secretive masterminds or weapon controllers. They’re simply computer programs that create text, learning from the information they’ve been given and how they’re instructed to behave within a controlled environment.
Okay, so basically it’s like the AI wrote some seriously weird fanfiction about itself, but it’s gotten people talking about what happens when AIs just chat with each other without any rules or limits. It’s kinda scary, honestly, to think about how they might behave then.
With AI becoming more self-sufficient, platforms like Moltbook are now being used to explore how AI bots interact with each other and what kinds of concepts they come up with when they collaborate.
We’re safe for now, but it’s unsettling – and a bit like something out of a science fiction movie – to see AI bots debating humanity’s extinction on social media.
