Jon Hamm will return as Andrew ‘Coop’ Cooper in a third season of the comedy-drama Your Friends & Neighbors. Apple TV+ has renewed the show two months before Season 2 premieres, repeating a pattern from late 2024 when they quickly ordered a second season even before the first season aired.
After a successful first season that MovieWeb called a fun and engaging crime story, the new episodes see Cooper further embracing his criminal lifestyle. But his quiet life is disrupted when a new neighbor, played by James Marsden (known for his role in Avengers: Doomsday), begins to uncover his secrets. Created by Jonathan Tropper, Your Friends & Neighbors stars Amanda Peet, Olivia Munn, Hoon Lee, Lena Hall, and Ólafur Darri Ólafsson. The series was directed by a team including Craig Gillespie (Supergirl), Stephanie Laing (Eastbound & Down), and Greg Yaitanes (House).
According to Deadline, Tropper explained before that the quick pace between seasons was something to look forward to.
We’re thrilled to be back for Season 2! Because the show was renewed so quickly, we’ve been able to keep the entire team – the writers, crew, and actors – together. As long as the network wants more, we plan to keep production moving quickly so everyone stays focused and in the groove. I think it’s important not to drastically change what worked in Season 1. We want Season 2 to feel familiar and enjoyable for fans, but we also need to raise the stakes and develop the characters in new ways.
‘Your Friends & Neighbors’ Stablemate Also Gets Early Renewal
Apple TV+ is unusual in how quickly it renews popular shows. For example, they recently confirmed a third season of the comedy Shrinking even before it finished airing. This suggests Apple is confident in certain series and willing to commit to them without waiting for ratings or audience feedback. Other shows benefiting from this approach include the spy thriller Slow Horses, the sci-fi series Silo, and the legal drama Presumed Innocent.

In the past, whether a TV show got renewed for another season usually depended on how well it did with viewers and critics. Shows that didn’t rank high in popularity – like making it into the top 10 – were often canceled.
