Fans can look forward to a new Stranger Things series called Tales From ’85. The creators are promising a thrilling and unpredictable story with its first teaser trailer now available.
After the recent ending of the live-action Stranger Things series, fans will be able to revisit Hawkins and the Upside Down in a new animated series called Stranger Things: Tales from ’85. A new trailer from Netflix highlights the show’s unique art style, which is similar to the look of their popular animated series Arcane, and hints at a previously untold story from Hawkins’ past.
This new series falls between the second and third seasons of the live-action story and will premiere on Netflix on April 23rd.
The video begins with animated versions of Eleven, Mike, and Hopper, who then join the rest of their friends on a bike ride. It initially looks like a cheerful day playing in the snow, but soon things take a turn for the worse as they face demogorgons and other threats common to Hawkins.
The new season brings back the beloved characters from throughout the run of Stranger Things on Netflix. The original actors – Brooklyn Davey Norstedt as Eleven, Luca Diaz as Mike, Ben Plessala as Will, Elisha ‘EJ’ Williams as Lucas, Braxton Quinney as Dustin, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport as Max, and Brett Gipson as Jim Hopper – all return, having grown up alongside their roles.
Fans of Stranger Things can look forward to meeting a new character in Tales from ’85. Nikki Baxter, a resourceful inventor, will join the main group as they fight monsters. The actor who voices Nikki hasn’t been announced yet.
Previously, we mentioned how the show’s animation allows for incredible storytelling. As he put it, ‘With animation, there are no limits!’ Showrunner Eric Robles and his team have really taken advantage of that freedom, creating something truly imaginative.
Robles created and is the executive producer of the new series, and the Duffer Brothers are also executive producers. Robles has hinted that the series, called Tales from ’85, will be incredible, telling fans to ‘get your flashlight and backpack’ because they’ll need them.
Robles explained that things weren’t what they initially seemed. Duffer then shared that the idea for Tales From ’85 came up early in their discussions about expanding the Stranger Things universe. It was one of the first things they considered doing.
More Stranger Things Spin-Offs Are Currently In Development
Even though the latest season of the live-action Stranger Things has finished, the story isn’t over. The new show, Tales of ’85, is just the first of several spin-offs planned, which is great news for fans who were eager for more (some even started a rumor called ‘Conformity Gate’ believing more content was coming).
I’m so excited! You can already watch Stranger Things on Netflix, and they’re releasing a new special called Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 on April 23rd. I can’t wait!
