CBS has announced that a new season of the show starring Carrie Preston as Elsbeth Tascioni will be coming soon. The series, which began as a spin-off of The Good Wife and The Good Fight, follows Elsbeth, a uniquely brilliant and quirky former defense attorney who now consults with the NYPD, solving crimes with her unusual insights and warm personality.

Carrie Preston returns as her popular character from the legal drama The Good Wife, a role she played for seven seasons between 2009 and 2016. Preston first appeared in season two of The Good Wife in the episode “Silver Bullet,” and later became a key part of its spin-off series, The Good Fight.
The new series Elsbeth features Preston as a remarkably unique and skilled defense lawyer. I’m so excited to hear that Elsbeth is coming back for a fourth season! It’s been renewed and will be part of the fall lineup for the 2026-2027 season. And it’s not just Elsbeth – Tracker, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, Matlock, and Fire Country are all coming back too, after their current seasons finish up this spring. I can’t wait!
The fourth season of Elsbeth will probably air on CBS Thursdays at 10 pm Eastern when the show returns. Based on the past two years, the new season is likely to premiere around mid-October – the previous seasons started on October 17th and October 12th.
