Madelaine Petsch has often been suggested by fans to play two famous comic book characters: Poison Ivy from DC Comics and Jean Grey from Marvel.
For years, fans have hoped to see the actress play either Batman or an X-Men character in a movie. In a recent interview with ScreenRant’s Ash Crossan while promoting her film The Strangers — Chapter 3, Petsch finally addressed these fan castings, sharing her thoughts on potentially taking on the roles of Dr. Pamela Isley (Poison Ivy) or Phoenix.
Petsch shared that she isn’t currently involved in any superhero projects as either of those characters, as far as she knows. Still, she’d love to play either role and considers it a dream opportunity. She’s even hoping to make it happen this year!
I’d be thrilled to do either of those roles, creatively speaking. It would truly be an honor. As far as I know, there haven’t been any developments yet.
The idea of Madelaine Petsch playing a DC or Marvel character wasn’t a surprise. She’s openly expressed interest in roles like Poison Ivy and Jean Grey. Just recently, at San Diego Comic-Con 2025, she told The Direct she’d be thrilled to play one of the most powerful X-Men.
She shared that she’s been hoping to play Poison Ivy for a while now. In a video on Instagram, Petsch explained that she even dressed up as the character for Halloween a few years ago and directly messaged director Matt Reeves, hoping he’d consider her for the part. She said, ‘Poison Ivy is a dream role for me, and we’re trying to make it happen. I dressed up as her for Halloween ages ago just to get noticed – a little ‘Hey, Matt Reeves!’ – but the movie hasn’t been made yet, so anything could happen.’
Petsch will be returning as Maya in The Strangers — Chapter 3. Her character was the only survivor of The Strangers reboot trilogy. The logline of the film describes the final chapter of the series as a “full-circle reckoning of survival and revenge,” as she battles the three masked killers for the very last time.
The Strangers — Chapter 3 will be released in theaters on February 6, 2026.
