Brandon Sanderson’s Popular Fantasy Books To Get Film & TV Adaptations

Apple TV is starting to develop a new TV series based on a popular fantasy book series. While they aren’t revealing which book will be adapted first, they’re planning to create a large, interconnected franchise with multiple types of content.

Brandon Sanderson’s Mistborn and The Stormlight Archive books get film and TV adaptations

Apple TV will be bringing Brandon Sanderson’s popular Cosmere universe to the screen. They plan to make movies based on the Mistborn books and a TV series out of The Stormlight Archive (according to The Hollywood Reporter). Sanderson will have a lot of creative control over these adaptations, working as a writer, producer, consultant, and having the final say on how they turn out.

Blue Marble, headed by Theresa Kang (formerly of WME), has started working on the TV series based on Brandon Sanderson’s The Stormlight Archive. Unusually, Sanderson will have complete creative control over how his books are adapted for the screen.

Brandon Sanderson recently completed a deal with a major studio after a competitive negotiation. He’s now in charge of adapting his popular Cosmere universe for the screen, ensuring everything stays consistent and creatively strong. A successful author with over 50 million books sold worldwide and a dedicated fanbase, Sanderson has also proven adept at direct funding from readers. He’s raised nearly $100 million through crowdfunding, including a record-breaking $42 million from a Kickstarter campaign for just four novels.

I’m completely captivated by Brandon Sanderson’s worlds! In Mistborn, I love how the characters use different metals to perform incredible feats of magic as they fight against a really oppressive empire. And then there’s The Stormlight Archive, starting with The Way of Kings – it’s set on this amazing planet constantly battered by magical storms, and it’s filled with knights and these mysterious, ancient beings called Voidbringers. It’s just epic!

These two series are part of the Cosmere, a vast universe with connections between different planets. This universe is built around the remnants of a powerful god, whose broken power is the source of all the various magic systems found throughout the cosmos.

Sanderson is represented by WME and attorney Matthew Sugarman from Weintraub Tobin. His yearly fan convention is scheduled to take place in Salt Lake City from December 3rd to 5th, 2026.
