Jason Momoa Teases Lobo’s Future in the DCU Following ‘Supergirl’ Debut

It’s currently uncertain how long Jason Momoa will play the character Lobo in the DC Universe. He’s scheduled to debut in the upcoming Supergirl movie, starring Milly Alcock. This role comes after Momoa played Aquaman in the now-concluded DC Extended Universe, which ended with Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom after 16 films. Lobo, a popular antihero from the planet Czarnia, hasn’t been featured in a major movie before, though Emmett J. Scanlan portrayed him in the second season of the Krypton TV series in 2019.

I was reading ScreenRant recently, and they asked Jason Momoa about what’s next for his character, Lobo, after his appearance in Supergirl. He was doing an interview to talk about his new movie, The Wrecking Crew, when they brought up his DC future.

I’m only familiar with Lobo’s role in this project, and it’s hard to say what will happen with him going forward. I’d really like to see him get his own dedicated project, though I’m not sure if that’s in the works. Ultimately, I think whether that happens depends on how fans respond, but he likely has plans that I’m not aware of.

Stepping onto the set as Lobo was surreal – a real ‘is this happening?’ moment. My first scene was incredibly challenging, and I honestly don’t think many actors could have nailed it in one take like we did. I’m eager to discuss it because it was so difficult, but I tackled it with a lot of energy and I’m really proud of the result.

Fans got their first good look at Lobo in a trailer for the new DC movie last week, and it really showed off his personality – even without him saying a single line. The trailer featured him riding a motorcycle through flames and stopping dramatically. Key details like his black leather jacket, dark markings around his eyes, and fangs made it clear: you wouldn’t want to mess with this guy.

Lobo Role is Jason Momoa’s “Ultimate Dream”

Warner Bros.

After years of being a lesser-known actor, Jason Momoa’s breakout role as Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones propelled him to stardom. He’s now enjoying the most successful period of his career. Since 2019, he’s starred as Baba Voss in the Apple TV+ series See, played survival expert Ray Cooper in Netflix’s Sweet Girl, and appeared as Duncan Idaho in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune. He also took on the villain in Fast X, and has recently been in A Minecraft Movie, Chief of War, and this year’s Street Fighter.

However, Jason Momoa felt that none of his previous roles could compare to playing Lobo, calling it a lifelong dream during an appearance on TODAY.

I think he’s incredible, and playing Lobo is my biggest goal as an actor. I’d rather play Lobo than Aquaman – it’s always been my dream role.
