Action star Iko Uwais is returning to the big screen later this month with his new movie, Shelter. However, many of his fans are even more excited about his upcoming return to The Raid franchise. Director Timo Tjahjanto has been building anticipation for the film, mentioning it will feature several new villains, and it’s currently scheduled for release on January 15, 2027 (according to Deadline).
Jason Statham is known for playing the hero who defeats countless villains in his action films, but his upcoming movie, The Beekeeper 2, might present his toughest challenge yet. Director Tjahjanto recently told The Direct…
I’m incredibly excited for this movie! The script is fantastic, and they’re introducing a whole cast of new villains. What I love about a film like ‘Beekeeper,’ and what they’re aiming for with the sequel, is that the villains are going to be totally unpredictable and really stand out – it’s going to be a wild ride!
Principal photography for The Beekeeper 2 finished in December 2025. Jason Statham reprises his role, alongside returning cast members Emmy Raver-Lampman, Bobby Naderi, Jeremy Irons, and Jemma Redgrave. The sequel also features new additions to the cast, including Yara Shahidi, Pom Klementieff, and Adam Copeland. After facing off against Josh Hutcherson’s character in the first film, it will be interesting to see the new and diverse group of villains Statham’s character will battle in this installment.

The action movie The Beekeeper, produced by Amazon MGM Studios, was a hit on Prime Video, staying in the platform’s top charts for several months. A follow-up film is planned for February 2025, though director David Ayer will not return, and has been replaced by Timo Tjahjanto.

If you enjoy Jason Statham’s action films, The Beekeeper delivered exactly what you’d expect – intense, exaggerated violence and a wildly unbelievable story that only Statham could pull off. The upcoming sequel looks to be even bigger and better, especially with its collection of villains. Director Tjahjanto shared some hints about his approach to the antagonists back in August, suggesting they’ll be a significant step up.
I think you’ll really like the villains in Beekeeper 2. They’re going to feel very much like they’re pulled straight out of a genre like anime or manga – it’s going to be amazing. When we created the main character for the first Beekeeper, I told Jason we wanted someone who’d been through a lot, and whose only motivation is their strong moral code.
