CS2 players randomly VAC-banned after brand-new Fourth Season update

Okay, so it’s been super frustrating lately. After the new CS2 update – Season Four – a bunch of us Counter-Strike players are getting randomly VAC-banned. It’s like, I’m playing normally, and suddenly I get flagged! It’s really worrying because it feels totally unfair and out of our control.

Steam and Counter-Strike have various types of bans. These can result in temporary suspensions from the game, and frequently include cooldown periods that prevent you from quickly joining new matches, especially if you leave games before they finish.

Getting a VAC ban on your Steam account is a serious issue. It usually means you’re suspected of cheating, and these bans are rarely removed. Essentially, it’s a permanent penalty.

While you could create a new account to bypass a VAC ban, most players prefer not to, as they’ve built up a lot of progress on their existing profile.

CS2 players banned at random after Fourth Season update

Since the recent update to Counter-Strike 2 (CS2), players are reporting an increase in unexpected bans.

I was shocked to see I got VAC banned right after the update! I’ve spent a ton of money – around $12,000 – building up my inventory, and I’ve never cheated, so I’m completely lost and really frustrated about what just happened.

I was playing wingman and this guy shot me, and unbelievably, we BOTH got VAC banned right after! I’m absolutely gutted – I’ve put over 7,000 hours into this game and had a huge inventory, over 1,000 items. To get falsely banned while I was even playing badly on Inferno is just ridiculous. I swear, I’ve never used any cheats in my life, this whole thing is a joke!

I received a VAC ban in CS2 after the recent update, and it’s really frustrating because I’ve put over 1500 legitimate hours into the game. Please look into this, @CounterStrike and @Valve.

Some players are experiencing unexpected bans. They might play several games without problems, only to be banned in the middle of a subsequent set of games. It’s unclear what’s causing these bans, as they’re happening to players in all types of matches.

Players reported widespread bans following a recent wave of anti-cheat measures. One player expressed concern about logging in, saying many people were banned, even those new to the game. Another shared that in their very first match, two teammates and the entire opposing team were all banned during or immediately after the game.

“Finally, Valve is banning thousands of accounts. Too bad it’s not the cheaters,” another joked.

As it stands, Valve has not responded to the wave of bans, nor have they overturned any just yet.
