Marathon’s Recommended System Requirements Have Been Revealed

This week, Bungie announced that their upcoming extraction shooter, Marathon, will be available on March 5th. They also shared details players need to know before launch, including updated system requirements for the game.

When Bungie first showed off Marathon with a closed alpha last year, they only shared the minimum computer specs needed to run it. Those minimum requirements remain the same for the full game’s launch, but now we also have a list of recommended specs to help you determine if your PC can handle it.

The game’s technical requirements don’t yet list a specific frame rate or resolution, but Marathon should run well on most computers. Even older or less powerful PCs should be able to play with the graphics settings turned down. The amount of storage space needed to install the game hasn’t been announced yet, but that information will likely be available closer to the game’s release.

Developing Marathon hasn’t been easy. The game, initially scheduled for release on September 23, 2025, was pushed back after players didn’t respond well to early test versions. There were also issues with stolen artwork, which were eventually fixed, and recently the art director left the project with the launch approaching. Adding to the challenge, Marathon will be competing directly with the popular game Arc Raiders, which came out last October.

Marathon is a new live service game from Sony, and its launch is being watched closely after another Sony game, Concord, failed quickly. Concord shut down just two weeks after release, but Marathon is off to a better start. It appeared among the top 10 best-selling games on Steam during its first day of pre-orders, something Concord never achieved.
