Work on Marvel Phase 7 might be starting sooner than expected. Recent reports indicate a familiar hero from the Marvel Cinematic Universe could be coming back for a big team-up movie, potentially connected to the long-discussed Midnight Sons project.
Moon Knight to play a major role in rumored Midnight Sons movie
Rumors about a potential Marvel movie featuring the Midnight Sons have been circulating since 2022, though Marvel Studios hasn’t officially confirmed it. Recently, MyTimeToShineHello tweeted that Moon Knight is expected to play a significant part in the film.
This news has sparked a lot of discussion about what’s next for the character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With no official word on a second season of Moon Knight and no plans currently showing the character in the next Avengers movies, a project called Midnight Sons seems like the most likely path for the story to continue.
Talk about Marvel’s Midnight Sons has picked up after news about the Blade reboot starring Mahershala Ali. According to industry insider Jeff Sneider on his podcast, The Hot Mic, the standalone Blade movie first announced at Comic-Con in 2019 might be cancelled.
During a conversation, Sneider initially stated that the Blade character was deceased, but quickly clarified this was just a rumor. He then explained that he’d heard Blade wouldn’t be getting his own movie, but would instead be introduced as part of a team-up film called Midnight Sons. Marvel had previously hinted at Blade’s presence with a voice appearance at the end of the Eternals movie, and a different version of the character showed up in Marvel Zombies.
Moon Knight first appeared in his own Disney+ show in 2022, starring Oscar Isaac. He hasn’t been seen in any other Marvel Cinematic Universe projects since then. While nothing is officially planned, the potential ‘Midnight Sons’ movie seems like the most likely place for him to reappear in Marvel’s Phase 7.
As of writing, Marvel Studios has not officially confirmed Midnight Sons.
