The CBS program 60 Minutes recently broadcast a segment on CECOT, a Salvadoran prison holding hundreds of Venezuelan migrants – a story Bari Weiss allegedly tried to suppress. The piece, which was initially delayed for “further investigation” and previously reported on by Canada’s Global News, included an introduction by host Sharyn Alfonsi explaining that 60 Minutes had repeatedly tried, and failed, to get on-camera interviews with Trump administration officials regarding the story.

In December, Bari Weiss, the editor-in-chief at CBS News, cancelled a segment just three hours before it was scheduled to air. The network initially stated it required further investigation. According to the New York Times, Weiss had requested an interview with a high-ranking Trump administration official, such as White House deputy chief of staff and homeland security advisor Stephen Miller, to present their perspective. CBS News confirmed in a statement to Reuters on Sunday that they have always intended to broadcast the segment as soon as it was prepared, and viewers can now see it along with other news stories.
