Eidos Montreal, the studio behind Deus Ex: Human Revolution, might be working on a new game that’s similar to the canceled open-world title, Wild. Insider Gaming reports the project, currently known as P11, shares several key ideas with the unreleased Ubisoft game.
So, I’ve been hearing about Project 11 – it’s been in the works since 2019, and they’re building it with Unreal Engine 5, which is awesome. But apparently, things haven’t been smooth sailing. It sounds like the game has hit some major roadblocks. To make matters worse, the company behind it, Embracer Group, cancelled a Deus Ex game earlier this year and had to lay off almost 100 people at Eidos Montreal. And it didn’t stop there – another 75 people lost their jobs at the studio last year. It’s a pretty rough situation, honestly, and makes me a little worried about the future of the game.
A user on X, Timur222, noticed an employee at Eidos Montreal calling the P11 project a “AAAA” game on LinkedIn. This led Insider Gaming to speculate that Embracer Group might have obtained the rights to the canceled game Wild from Ubisoft, as the two projects share similarities. Wild, originally revealed in 2014, featured unique gameplay where players could control a bear, eagle, and rabbit, but was reportedly canceled by PlayStation in 2021.
The project’s codename likely just means this is the 11th game made by Eidos Montreal. The studio is currently working with Playground Games on Fable, and they also helped with Grounded 2. Their most recent standalone game was Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, which came out in 2021.
