On January 22nd, Arc Games and Snapshot Games will release a significant new update for the early-access version of Frosthaven, their dark fantasy tactical RPG.
Next week’s update will add a ton of new content, including three new heroes, the Algox storyline, a new pet, five bosses, and two unique areas to explore. For a full look at what’s coming through July 2026, check out the Frosthaven Early Access Roadmap on Arc Games.
Frosthaven is now available in early access for PC (Steam, Epic).

I’m so excited! Arc Games and Snapshot Games just announced that the next big update for Frosthaven, called Legacy of the Algox, is coming to Steam and the Epic Games Store on January 22nd. It’s a huge update, adding a brand new storyline with the Algox, three heroes we’ve all been waiting for, five challenging bosses, two totally new areas to explore, and even a new pet! It’s awesome to see the digital version of this amazing board game by Cephalofair Games and Isaac Childres getting so much content.
From Snapshot Games, led by the creator of X-COM, Julian Gollop, and with board game designer Isaac Childres as a consultant, comes Frosthaven and a new storyline called Legacy of the Algox. Now that the Unfettered are defeated, Frosthaven‘s heroes face a growing conflict with the Algox. When an Algox messenger arrives with a potential solution, the heroes must make a crucial decision that will determine the Algox’s fate and shape their own legacy. But something dangerous and old is awakening beneath the frozen land.
A brand-new story packed with political twists and turns is coming, along with three new heroes for the Frozen North: Astral, Drill, and Shackles. Each hero offers a completely different way to play, changing how you build your team and plan your strategy. Plus, a new pet joins the game, bringing the total number of collectible pets to eleven! Summon these pets from the Stables to fight alongside you and unleash special abilities that add another layer of strategy beyond just using items.

In the Algox Storyline, you’ll assist the Algox tribe in peace negotiations with their enemies, working towards a lasting alliance.
Add the rarest pets to your Stables to gain a powerful edge in combat!
Unlock three new hero classes by completing challenges. These heroes will let you try out fresh and different strategies in the game.
5 New Bosses: Battle ancient foes, equipped with tactical challenges to overcome.
2 New Biomes: Explore new areas and travel far to expand your evergrowing map.
Embark on over 25 new quests to face challenging enemies and uncover hidden secrets within and outside of Frosthaven.
9 Building Upgrades: Enhance and build up Frosthaven even further.
Town Hall Challenges: Finish special tasks at the Town Hall to make your team stronger.
Discover 31 new items to equip your Heroes! You can craft these items or find them while completing new quests.
