I was so excited to read that Zoe Saldaña has officially become the highest-grossing actor globally, even surpassing Scarlett Johansson! It’s amazing to see all her hard work pay off. Here in the US, Samuel L. Jackson still leads with the highest domestic box office numbers, but Scarlett, Robert Downey Jr., and Zoe are right behind him. Chris Pratt completes the top five, but Zoe’s international success is what really puts her on top overall – she’s incredible!
Following the release of her latest movie, Jurassic World Rebirth, in July 2025, Johansson became the highest-grossing actor of all time, with films she’s starred in earning approximately $14.8 billion worldwide.
Zoe Saldaña’s films have now earned a total of $15.46 billion, largely thanks to the huge success of Avatar: Fire and Ash. Scarlett Johansson’s total earnings are also up to $15.40 billion with the success of Jurassic World Rebirth, but Saldaña remains the top-earning actor.
Zoe Saldaña is known for her work in some huge film series. She famously played Neytiri in James Cameron’s Avatar movies, Gamora in the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy and several Avengers films, and Lieutenant Nyota Uhura in three Star Trek movies.
In 2025, she in the controversial crime musical Emilia Pérez.
What’s Next for Zoe Saldaña?
Zoe Saldaña recently reprised her role as Neytiri in the latest Avatar film, and is set to appear in the next two sequels as well. While the future of the Avatar series isn’t completely confirmed, the newest movie has already earned $1.23 billion worldwide, nearly a month after its release.
While the Avatar movies continue to be very successful, director James Cameron isn’t sure about making any more. He’s decided to keep story ideas for potential fourth and fifth films, just in case those movies don’t end up being made.
As a huge fan, I’m thrilled to hear Zoe Saldaña will be returning as Neytiri, of course! But I was also excited to learn she’s revisiting her role as Joe McNamara – that show is getting a third season in 2026, which I can’t wait for. And she’s got some really interesting projects coming up too, including a new Netflix film called Positano with Matthew McConaughey, and Don’t Forget Me Tomorrow alongside Mark Ruffalo – both actors I admire. It’s great to see her involved in such diverse and exciting films!
