With more trailers released for Avengers: Doomsday, speculation is growing. The latest rumor suggests another hero from the X-Men might join the big Marvel Cinematic Universe team-up.
Another X-Men hero rumored for Doomsday
Marvel Studios has confirmed seven X-Men characters will appear in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie. Most of the actors from the original X-Men films are returning to play their roles, including Kelsey Grammer as Beast, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, and James Marsden as Cyclops. Channing Tatum will also reprise his popular role as Gambit, having previously appeared in 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine.
There’s a rumor going around that Psylocke might join the cast of Avengers: Doomsday, potentially becoming the eighth member. According to a reliable source on X (formerly Twitter), this version of Psylocke won’t be of Asian descent, meaning they likely won’t be using the well-known Kwannon version of the character.
We previously showed fan art imagining Ana de Armas (known for roles in ‘Knives Out’ and ‘Ballerina’) as the X-Men character Psylocke, but it wasn’t clear if the artist was hinting that she’d actually been cast in the role. Olivia Munn previously played Psylocke in the 2016 movie ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’.
Details about the movie’s story are still mostly secret, but we know Robert Downey Jr. will play the villain, Doctor Doom, and the X-Men will team up with the Avengers and the Fantastic Four. The third trailer gave fans a first glimpse of Professor X, Magneto, and Cyclops, with Cyclops wearing his classic comic book costume.
Joe and Anthony Russo are directing the new Avengers movie, ‘Doomsday.’ This will be their fifth film for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, following their work on ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ (2014), ‘Captain America: Civil War’ (2016), ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ (2018), and ‘Avengers: Endgame’ (2019).
The next Avengers movie, currently titled Doomsday, is planned for release on December 18, 2026, as the culmination of Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
