MCU Fans Are Convinced [Spoiler] Will Die in Avengers: Doomsday

Many Marvel Cinematic Universe fans believe Bucky Barnes, played by Sebastian Stan, will die in the upcoming movie, Avengers: Doomsday.

Marvel Studios is finishing up work on the new Avengers movie, currently titled ‘Doomsday’. It’s directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, and is expected to hit US theaters later this year. A follow-up film, ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’, is planned for release in 2027.

Why do MCU fans think Bucky will die in Avengers: Doomsday?

Sebastian Stan is officially returning as Bucky Barnes, also known as the Winter Soldier, for the upcoming movie Avengers: Doomsday. It’s currently unclear if he will also appear in Avengers: Secret Wars.

With the recent news that Stan is potentially joining the cast of Matt Reeves’ The Batman Part II, many Marvel fans believe this signals that his character, Bucky, will die in the upcoming Doomsday storyline.

The idea is that filming for Avengers: Secret Wars and The Batman 2 might overlap. Even if that’s true, it’s still possible for Stan to appear in both movies. Avengers: Doomsday filmed from late April to mid-September 2024, but not the entire cast was needed the whole time, so Stan could potentially work on both projects.

Marvel fans will need to wait until December 18, 2026, to find out the fate of their favorite heroes in ‘The Kang Dynasty.’ The next big team-up movie, ‘Avengers: Secret Wars,’ will arrive on December 17, 2027.

The sequel to The Batman, currently planned for release on October 1, 2027, is the next installment in Matt Reeves’ planned Batman crime series. Robert Pattinson will return as Batman/Bruce Wayne, and Scarlett Johansson is joining the cast.
