A character called The Thing shows up in the new Avengers movie, alongside a team of other heroes. The Fantastic Four are a hugely important part of Marvel’s history – they’re known as Marvel’s First Family for a reason! There have been several Fantastic Four movies made, and many fans consider the latest one to be the strongest yet.
I didn’t love the initial cast for The Fantastic Four: First Steps, but each actor eventually won me over by the end of the movie. However, I immediately thought Ebon Moss-Bachrach was perfect as The Thing, especially given his role in The Bear. Before he appears in Avengers: Doomsday, fans can see him reprise the role of Ben Grimm in the new Avengers TV show.
Marvel Has Revealed What New Avengers TV Show’s The Thing Looks Like
The new Avengers series coming to TV isn’t part of the main Marvel Cinematic Universe. Marvel plans to continue releasing Avengers movies in theaters. However, there’s talk that different versions of the team – like the Young Avengers or West Coast Avengers – might eventually appear on a Disney+ show. As of now, the Avengers we know are still exclusive to the big screen.
As a huge Marvel fan, I was really looking forward to LEGO Marvel Avengers: Strange Tails when it came out. It dropped on Disney+ on November 14, 2025, and it was one of the last big Marvel releases of the year. While the story mainly followed Hawkeye and the Avengers, it was fun spotting other heroes making quick appearances throughout the two episodes.
One character was The Thing from the Fantastic Four, and his appearance is quite distinctive. Ben Grimm is a large, orange, rocky figure – a design the Avengers TV show also used. However, the show made some changes to his look: he had more cracks on his chest than his arms, wasn’t wearing a shirt or pants, but did sport an F4 belt.
How The New Avengers TV Show’s The Thing Compares To Other Versions Of The Marvel Hero?
Fans have noticed the symbol on The Thing’s belt in the new Avengers show closely resembles its appearance in many Marvel comics – a blue circle with a blue number 4. There’s also been some discussion about whether or not he’s wearing pants, though it’s hard to tell since he’s seated at a desk. The orange color visible below his belt has drawn comparisons to a poorly received movie adaptation.
The 2015 Fantastic Four movie is well-known for its poor CGI version of The Thing, which even appeared nude. The recent Avengers TV show took a different approach, combining that idea with a design more closely based on the comic books. While the upcoming MCU Fantastic Four movie outfits The Thing in a full team uniform, his appearance still incorporates the prominent eyebrows seen in the Avengers TV show version.
