As a big fan, I’ve noticed that movie trailers these days really get people talking – everyone analyzes them and comes up with their own ideas. This is especially true with Marvel movies, which always get tons of views online. But the Avengers trailers? They’re on another level! They always create so much excitement and speculation, more than any other Marvel content, it seems.
The marketing campaign for Avengers: Doomsday has been quite different from typical movie promotions. Marvel has been slowly revealing details, starting with a set photo of the cast and then releasing trailers in stages. This unusual approach seems to be because Doomsday will involve a massive team-up of Marvel heroes across different universes. However, the latest trailers suggest the film might be using a similar marketing tactic as a previous Avengers movie.
The Avengers: Infinity War Trailers Used Fake Footage Of Scenes Not In The Movie
To keep the plot of Avengers: Infinity War a secret, especially its surprising ending, the Russo brothers cleverly misled audiences in the movie’s trailers. With so many characters, fans were constantly trying to guess what would happen, so the directors filmed and included fake scenes to throw people off the scent and maintain the mystery.
Perhaps the most talked-about moment is when Steve Rogers leads a charge of heroes directly towards the viewer. Notably following him is the Hulk, who wasn’t present during the final battle in Wakanda in Infinity War. Including him in the trailer cleverly hinted at a key plot point: Thanos defeating the Hulk so severely that the Hulk wouldn’t be able to control Bruce Banner’s body during the final showdown.
The filmmakers also used subtle techniques – like smart editing, camera angles, and small changes to scenes and lines – to keep the audience guessing. These tricks worked perfectly; when Thanos snapped his fingers in the theater, the impact was incredibly powerful and unlike anything audiences had seen before.
I’m Convinced The Avengers: Doomsday Trailers Are Using Scenes Not In The Film
After seeing two trailers for Avengers: Doomsday and hearing about a possible fifth, I’m starting to think the directors are intentionally misleading us. I actually appreciate a good surprise in the theater, so I don’t mind being tricked, but I suspect the trailers we’ve seen don’t show actual scenes from the movie.
The way Steve Rogers and Thor are presented early on has a lot in common. Both heroes are shown with their families—Steve with his child with Peggy Carter, and Thor with his adopted daughter, Love. This is a deliberate way to emphasize what they stand to lose in their fight against Dr. Doom, and to build tension before the villain even appears.
The latest Thor trailer emphasizes the serious threat facing the characters. It includes a voice-over of Thor praying to the gods, suggesting even a powerful being like him feels the gravity of the situation. However, both trailers appear to be establishing a mood rather than revealing specific plot details.
Because the movie’s story is still largely under wraps, the initial trailers might feature scenes filmed just for promotional purposes, or cleverly edited moments designed to mislead fans. Avengers: Doomsday is expected to be even bigger than Endgame, and with a long wait until release, it’s likely the filmmakers are using the same trailer tactics they’ve used before to keep details hidden.
