Jacob Tierney, the creator of “Heated Rivalry,” hasn’t begun writing the second season yet, but he’s already planning the music. During an appearance on the hockey podcast “What Chaos!,” host DJ Bean jokingly asked if Canadian singer Carly Rae Jepsen was on his list of desired songs. Tierney initially said no, but then hinted that he might include her in the future. He admitted he hadn’t even considered it for season one, but confirmed she was on his writing playlist and he’ll definitely ask about using her music next time.
Tierney explained that the budget for the first season of Heated Rivalry didn’t allow for a CRJ track. Now, with the boy aquarium gaining so much attention, there might be enough money to commission a new song from Jepsen. Tierney had even planned to ask her, saying, “I was going to ask if she’d be interested in writing a new song.” However, Jepsen’s recent marriage and pregnancy might make that difficult. If a new song isn’t possible, Pete Blackburn from What Chaos suggests releasing Jepsen’s existing song, ‘Disco Darling,’ instead.
