Season 3 of The Last of Us will have a change in cast: Danny Ramirez won’t be returning, and the role will be played by a new actor. Here’s the reason behind the switch.

The TV series ‘The Last of Us’ is making a big shift. While the first two seasons followed Ellie’s story, season three will focus on Abby, showing the events from her point of view.

While now an actor is dropping out, with Danny Ramirez no longer playing Manny Alvarez.

Danny Ramirez will be replaced in The Last of Us Season 3

Danny Ramirez has dropped out of The Last of Us Season 3 due to scheduling conflicts.

Ramirez is most famous for his role as Joaquin Torres, also known as Falcon, in the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and the film Captain America: Brave New World.

Manny Alvarez, a character first appearing in Season 2 of The Last of Us as part of Abby’s Firefly group, will be played by a different actor in the show’s upcoming episodes. This change comes as the Fireflies are expected to have a larger role in Season 2, according to Deadline.

The reported “scheduling conflicts” likely relate to Oscar Isaac’s commitments to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He’s scheduled to appear in Avengers: Doomsday (December 18, 2026), with Avengers: Secret Wars planned for 2027, and potentially other MCU projects after that. This means he could be busy with Marvel films for quite some time, making it difficult to take on other roles.

According to co-creator Craig Mazin, Season 3 of The Last of Us will delve into many unanswered questions. These include the origins of the war, the rise of the Seraphites, the story behind the prophet, Isaac’s motivations, and the meaning of the explosion at the end of Episode 7. Essentially, the season aims to provide context and explanations for key events and mysteries.
