Timothée Chalamet recently discussed his new movie, Marty Supreme, which is receiving excellent feedback. In an interview with IndieWire, he was asked if he planned to be more cautious with his public statements, given recent criticism. Here’s his response…

I made this film in the same passionate way Marty Scorsese approaches his work, and I believe it’s a truly original story – something that’s rare these days. It’s about chasing a goal, and I’m doing everything I can to share it with as many people as possible, from promotional events to interviews and everything in between. I’m giving it my all.

People have noticed Timothée Chalamet’s strong self-assurance before. While some found his directness about his career goals a bit surprising, he defended his intentions then, just as he’s doing now, and didn’t offer an apology.

I’m not saying success is only about deserving it, but it’s a clear fact that some people work incredibly hard and really seize their opportunities. It wasn’t luck that a relatively unknown Jonah Hill made such an impact in his short scene in 40 Year Old Virgin, and it wasn’t coincidence that Viola Davis received an Oscar nomination despite only being on screen for ten minutes in Doubt. Ultimately, the most talented individuals are the ones who truly shine.

It’s refreshing that Timothée Chalamet openly strives for excellence. While some might see it as boastful, it reminds me of an athlete dedicated to improving their game. I appreciate his ambition and I’m excited to see what he accomplishes throughout his career.
