IO Interactive has postponed the release of their new game, 007 First Light, to allow the development team more time to refine and polish the game.
Interest in the new James Bond game has grown significantly since its recent gameplay reveal at PlayStation’s State of Play, which showcased a younger, less experienced version of the iconic spy. Originally planned for release on March 27, 2026, the game, titled First Light, would have launched during a busy period for new game releases.
That made the delay land a bit harder, even if it was not entirely unexpected.
Bond takes a detour before 007 First Light launch
IO Interactive announced on X (formerly Twitter) that the release of 007 First Light has been moved to May 27, 2026.
The studio stated that delivering a high-quality game is their main focus. They explained that while the decision was difficult, it was necessary to meet players’ expectations.

The latest news confirms the main development of the game is finished and you can now play through it from beginning to end. However, the team still needs to refine performance, fix bugs, and add some finishing touches before the official release.
