007 First Light delayed following crowded March release window

IO Interactive has postponed the release of their new game, 007 First Light, to allow the development team more time to refine and polish the game.

Interest in the new James Bond game has grown significantly since its recent gameplay reveal at PlayStation’s State of Play, which showcased a younger, less experienced version of the iconic spy. Originally planned for release on March 27, 2026, the game, titled First Light, would have launched during a busy period for new game releases.

That made the delay land a bit harder, even if it was not entirely unexpected.

The latest news confirms the main development of the game is finished and you can now play through it from beginning to end. However, the team still needs to refine performance, fix bugs, and add some finishing touches before the official release.

Most fans reacted positively, with one commenting that the decision was correct and that more time was needed after seeing the gameplay footage from the State of Play event.

Many fans expressed understanding about the delay, with one saying they were sad but confident the team would deliver an amazing game. Several others felt the timing was smart, noting that March is already packed with highly anticipated releases.

They’re right to say March 2026 is already a busy month for game releases. Even without the addition of ‘007 First Light,’ titles like ‘Resident Evil Requiem,’ ‘Monster Hunter Stories 3,’ ‘Solasta 2,’ and ‘Crimson Desert’ are all scheduled to come out then.
