Disney+ is bringing back several popular movies to its streaming service, adding to its already large collection of classic films. While Disney owns a huge library of content from its many successful brands, not everything is always available on Disney+ because of complicated streaming rights. This latest update includes the return of titles from one of Disney’s biggest franchises, solidifying Disney+ as the main place to find the company’s most famous movies.
As a huge movie fan, I’m thrilled to hear Disney is bringing back all the Indiana Jones adventures to Disney+! They’ve confirmed that Raiders of the Lost Ark, Temple of Doom, Last Crusade, and even Kingdom of the Crystal Skull will be available to stream starting January 1, 2026. It’s great news since they just took them off the service earlier this year, and I was missing my Indiana Jones fix!

It’s been a bit hit or miss when it comes to streaming any Indiana Jones film on Disney+.
These films were initially available on Disney+ starting May 31, 2023, but were taken off in October 2024. They reappeared for a short time on January 1, 2025, before being removed again in October 2025.
These films are among Disney’s most valuable properties, stemming from their 2012 purchase of Lucasfilm – a deal best known for bringing the Star Wars franchise under Disney’s ownership. Disney’s plans to expand the Indiana Jones area at Walt Disney World clearly demonstrate how much the company cherishes this brand as well.
With the return of the original four Indiana Jones movies, all five films—including the latest, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, which is already available on Disney+—will soon be streaming together on Disney+.
For a while, many expected Disney+ to continue the adventures of Indiana Jones with new shows or movies. However, after the release of ‘Dial of Destiny,’ talk about spin-offs or a sixth film has significantly decreased.
Indiana Jones 5 didn’t perform well at the box office, which could lead Disney and Lucasfilm to stop making films in the series.
Disney+ Franchise Removals and Additions

Like Indiana Jones, Spider-Man is widely available on Disney+, but his availability isn’t permanent. Disney+ streams his movies through licensing deals, meaning they don’t actually own the rights to them and they could be removed in the future.
Sony still owns the movie rights to Spider-Man. Since it doesn’t have its own streaming service, it keeps moving its Marvel movies between platforms like Disney+ and Netflix.
Disney+ is the streaming home for all of the live-action Spider-Man movies! You can find Sam Raimi’s original trilogy, both films with Andrew Garfield, and most of Tom Holland’s appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including Captain America: Civil War, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, and Spider-Man: Far From Home.
As much as I love Disney+, I’ve noticed Spider-Man: No Way Home isn’t available there – it’s over on Starz instead. And with how Sony’s currently working with both Starz and Netflix, I don’t think we’ll see the next Spider-Man movie, Brand New Day, hit Disney+ anytime after it comes out. It’s a bit frustrating as a fan, but that seems to be the way things are going right now.
As a big movie fan, I always keep an eye on what Sony’s doing with Spider-Man characters, and Morbius is one of those films that came out of their attempt to build a whole universe around those properties – a plan they’ve since moved away from, honestly.
Disney+ has many different animated Spider-Man shows to watch, but the popular series Spectacular Spider-Man was taken off the platform in late 2023. This highlights how complicated it is for Sony to manage its licensing agreements.
Recently, Disney+ showed the first three seasons of The Bear for a limited time, starting on June 18th. The show was removed from Disney+ just a few days later on June 22nd. Many believe this was a way to encourage Disney+ users to switch to Hulu, especially with the upcoming fourth season of The Bear, and to demonstrate how similar the two streaming services are becoming.
With Disney combining its streaming services, many viewers are starting to see Disney+ as the main place to watch content from FX, ABC, and Hulu, in addition to classic Disney movies and shows. They’re no longer really separating Disney+ and Hulu as distinct platforms.
