Now that “Avatar: Fire and Ash” is out in cinemas, it’s the perfect time to revisit the first two “Avatar” movies. Good news: Amazon and Walmart both have new copies of the “Avatar” and “Avatar: The Way of Water” Collector’s Edition 4K Blu-rays! These editions are the most complete versions available, including both 4K and Blu-ray discs, plus a lot of bonus features – some you won’t find anywhere else. The Avatar series, created by acclaimed director James Cameron (known for films like Terminator 2, Aliens, and Titanic), is set in the 22nd century on the distant world of Pandora. It tells the story of a conflict between the native Na’vi people and human colonists who are exploiting the planet’s resources. The story centers on Jake Sully, a human who connects his mind to a Na’vi body with the original goal of infiltrating and undermining the Na’vi resistance. But Sully soon begins to sympathize with the Na’vi and ultimately fights alongside them against the human invaders.
The Avatar movies – starting with the original and continuing with Avatar: The Way of Water – have been huge successes, earning over $5.2 billion worldwide. The newest installment, Avatar: Fire and Ash, recently premiered on December 19th to good reviews and a strong opening weekend of $345 million globally. Director James Cameron intends to conclude the series with two more films: Avatar 4 is currently scheduled for December 2029, and the fifth and final movie is planned for December 2031.
