Japanese flip phone action RPG Monstre Waltz ported to Nintendo Switch, with PC Steam release to follow

G-Mode is slowly rolling out a port of the 2007 flip phone action RPG, Monstre Waltz. It’s available now on Nintendo Switch through the Japanese eShop with a 10% discount, bringing the price down to ¥1,350 until February 19th. A PC version for Steam is also planned, but doesn’t have a release date yet.

G-Mode recently announced a series of new game ports, including Armored Core Mobile 3. Of these five titles, Monstre Waltz is the most relevant to our RPG focus.

I’m so excited for Monstre Waltz! You can check out the official trailer, screenshots, and all the details right here. Just a heads-up though – even though the Steam page is in English, the game itself will only be available in Japanese, just like the original mobile version.

A final dance with you — the unnamable waltz.

Magician Norman confronts the last case of his life.

Monstre Waltz:

  • An action RPG centered around spellcraft.

  • A story inspired by the Cthulhu Mythos.

  • A rich, heavy narrative woven from the conflicting motives of its characters.

  • Combat that lets you wield circular magic and fight as if performing a dance.

  • Scenario written by 泉八郎 (Hachirō Izumi).

  • A port of a Japanese flip phone title (feature phones popular before smartphones).

This update doesn’t include features like new languages or achievements that weren’t in the first release of the game.
