A prequel to The Fantastic Four: First Steps has been announced.
I was so excited to finally see The Fantastic Four: First Steps when it came out in July! Matt Shakman did a fantastic job directing, and the cast is perfect. Pedro Pascal is brilliant as Reed Richards, and Vanessa Kirby really embodies Sue Storm. I think Ebon Moss-Bachrach is a great choice for Ben Grimm, and Joseph Quinn just is Johnny Storm. I’ve been waiting for this team to join the MCU, and it definitely didn’t disappoint!
Pascal, Kirby, Moss-Bachrach, and Quinn are all confirmed to be reprising their roles in both Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. Now, Marvel has revealed another project where their Fantastic Four characters will appear.
What is The Fantastic Four: First Steps prequel?
Marvel Comics is releasing a new comic book called Fantastic Four: First Foes, which tells a story leading up to the main Fantastic Four series. According to The Direct, the comic is written by Dan Slott and illustrated by Mark Buckingham, and it will be available on March 4, 2026.
The comic’s story centers on the early days of the Fantastic Four and their struggle against the Mad Thinker, who wants recognition and decides to pit the futuristic city they protect against them.

According to The Direct, the comic will include a two-page ‘Fantastic Science’ strip written by Ryan North, who currently writes the Fantastic Four comics. This strip is designed to feel like the educational TV show hosted by Reed Richards within the Marvel universe. ‘Fantastic Four: First Foes’ is the first of four comics planned for release throughout 2026, appearing quarterly. These comics will all connect to the upcoming movie, providing more details and exploring characters and moments from ‘First Steps’.
A prequel comic called Fantastic Four: First Steps #1 came out last July, just before the movie. It was written by Matt Fraction and illustrated by Buckingham.
