For fans of Star Trek, the cast of Strange New Worlds is sharing lots of behind-the-scenes moments as filming wraps up. We’ve seen everything from Celia Rose Gooding’s playful dance on the Captain’s Chair to the last group photo with a bearded Spock. While it doesn’t feel quite like the holidays, the cast is definitely giving us a festive farewell to the season of filming!
As we look ahead to the 2026 TV schedule and more Trek, Anson Mount chronicled the final scene of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds on Instagram. While readers won’t be able to stream it with a Paramount+ subscription for quite some time, I can feel the gravitas of its significance in Mount’s words, as he commemorated the moment with a farewell to his role as Captain Pike:
Around 11:15 pm Eastern time last night, Akiva Goldsman announced that filming had wrapped. It was an emotional moment with lots of tears and hugs, but everyone felt proud of what we accomplished – even though most of it hasn’t been seen yet. I’ve realized throughout my career that both acting and leading are about serving others. Thank you for letting me be a part of this project. Wishing everyone all the best as we move forward. That’s a wrap! ❤️🖖
The white sheet covering Captain Pike’s desk seems like a deliberate artistic choice, and I appreciate it as a way to acknowledge the ending of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. I think it’s a more meaningful tribute than the simple photos of trailer doors I’ve seen in other farewell posts. Perhaps being a lead actor allows for a more personal glimpse behind the scenes, like this photo from the final season’s set.
A director from Star Trek: Strange New Worlds recently revealed when the cast last filmed scenes on the ship’s bridge, and it’s left me wondering about a couple of things.
Following up on what Anson Mount said, it seems likely that Akiva Goldsman, having called “cut” on set, actually directed the final episode of the popular show. This isn’t entirely unexpected, as Goldsman had directed episodes before. I was just curious if Jonathan Frakes or another director might have been chosen for that important task.
It’s curious that Anson Mount photographed Pike’s desk. I heard Goldsman wanted the finale to show Kirk’s first day commanding the Enterprise. Was this setting used just because it’s familiar to the character, or does it mean Pike is still captaining the Enterprise in the final episode?
The white sheet draped over the desk made me wonder if it’s a foreshadowing of Pike’s accident. While white sheets usually cover those who have passed away, Pike actually survived, though he was left with serious injuries. It still struck me as a possible hint when I first saw the image. Honestly, waiting for the final season is going to be difficult, but I’m almost glad it’s not coming out for a while.

Season 4 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will arrive on Paramount+ in 2026, before the show concludes with its final season. I’m excited to see how these new episodes lead into the finale and potentially pave the way for future Star Trek series.
