As a huge Outer Banks fan, I’m so excited to hear that Season 5 has officially finished filming! According to Tudum, they’ve wrapped everything up. We don’t have a concrete release date yet, but it’s looking like we’ll finally get to see what happens sometime in 2026. And the best part? The whole crew is back – they even shared a first photo announcing the end of filming with everyone together!
The creators of the show—Josh Pate, Jonas Pate, and Shannon Burke—have hinted that the final season will be full of unexpected twists and turns. They also expressed their excitement about taking viewers on one last adventure with the main characters, the Pogues.
Returning to set with the cast for the final season felt both wonderful and strange, like a dream. We’re incredibly excited to share what we’ve created – it’s going to be an unforgettable season!
The show’s creators have hinted that the Season 4 finale—a longer, movie-length episode—will lead into a massive fifth and final season.
Production restarted in late October, but quickly faced a problem. Jonas Pate, one of the show’s creators, was accused of inappropriately grabbing and shaking a production assistant. Despite this report, filming continued without interruption.
What to Expect From Outer Banks Season 5
Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey, Austin North, Drew Starkey, Fiona Palomo, and Carlacia Grant are all returning to star in the next season, reprising their familiar roles. Additionally, Tony Crane and Cullen Moss will be taking on larger roles as series regulars.
The idea for Outer Banks started with a photo the creators found of teenagers on a beach at sunset, during a power outage. This image inspired them to create a show about four friends simply looking to enjoy life. As the creators explained in a letter to fans, they envisioned a five-season story filled with mystery, adventure, treasure hunting, and strong friendships.
While there’s no official story outline for Season 5 yet, the treasure hunt for the Blue Crown that was central to Season 4 is expected to continue being a major storyline, according to co-creator Shannon Burke.
