Fans of the Saw movies can now stream the complete film series in one convenient location. This comes before any potential new installments are released, and includes every terrifying moment from the entire franchise.
Starting December 19th, all ten Saw movies are now available to stream on Peacock. This means fans can watch the entire series in one place, instead of searching for each film on different streaming services. The Saw franchise has become known as one of the most frightening horror series of the 21st century.
The original Saw film, created by James Wan and Leigh Whannell in 2004, introduced viewers to Jigsaw, a terrifying serial killer. Jigsaw doesn’t simply kill people; he traps them in elaborate and frightening scenarios, giving them a chance to survive—but only if they’re willing to endure extreme hardship.
The movie Saw was a huge success when it came out, earning over $104 million despite costing only $1.2 million to make. Although critics weren’t overly impressed, audiences loved it, and it launched a franchise that grew to include nine sequels over twenty years.
The Saw movies have revealed a complex and expanding story, showing how John Kramer became Jigsaw – a role famously played by Tobin Bell – and exploring the backgrounds of those who helped and followed him. The 2023 film, Saw X, takes place between the first and second movies and has been praised by both fans and critics as a strong return to the series’ roots.
Currently, Saw X is receiving very positive reviews. Rotten Tomatoes gives it an 81% “Certified Fresh” rating based on 152 reviews from critics, and audiences give it an 88% score based on over 1,000 reviews. This makes it the highest-rated film in the Saw franchise; for example, the original 2004 Saw film only has a 50% rating from critics (based on 194 reviews).
What’s Next for the Saw Franchise on the Silver Screen?
For over two years, fans have been eager for updates on the future of the Saw movie series, but now there’s some positive news. In June, Lionsgate acquired the full ownership of the franchise. Though this was seen as a promising step, a new movie hasn’t been announced yet.
Blum acknowledged the difficulty of sustaining a movie franchise for so long, praising the original series’ creators and expressing gratitude for their willingness to let the series continue. He explained that his approach to revitalizing the franchise centers on bringing back the key creative talent who made the first films successful, particularly director James Wan, who will play a major role in the reboot.
The entire Saw feature film series is currently available for streaming on Peacock.
