Nintendo reveals Pikmin football kit for professional team

A Japanese football club recently unveiled a special jersey inspired by Nintendo’s Pikmin game, showcasing the characters in its design.

This shirt was designed to celebrate 100 years of professional football in Japan, marking the J-League’s centennial season. Kyoto Sanga FC, a leading club from Kyoto, will be the team wearing it.

Okay, so the shirt’s mostly purple, which is totally the club’s main color. But they added these cool red streaks down the sides, inspired by the phoenix – it’s supposed to represent a fresh start and moving forward. And the best part? They’ve scattered Pikmin all around the Nintendo logo, which is awesome since it’s a Japanese design. It just really ties everything together!

Nintendo teams up with professional football team

This Nintendo-designed jersey isn’t a regular team uniform; it’s a special edition created just for the league’s 100th season. Kyoto Sanga FC plans to use it as a collectible item honoring both the league’s past and what’s to come.

Nintendo’s relationship with Kyoto Sanga FC is more than just a sponsorship. Starting in the mid-1990s, Nintendo became a major sponsor and eventually a part-owner of the team, demonstrating its strong connection to its hometown of Kyoto.

Although the price hasn’t been revealed yet, sales will start shortly after the club reveals its new structure on January 6, 2026.

Japan’s soccer team has a history of partnering with popular culture, like when they teamed up with the anime Blue Lock during the 2022 World Cup, gaining international attention. But featuring characters from the Pikmin video game directly on the team’s jerseys is a particularly unique collaboration.
