I Cannot Get Over The Gorgeous Yellow Dress Ariana Grande Wore For SNL That Pays Homage To Carol Burnett

Ariana Grande has had a very busy year, especially with the upcoming release of the movie Wicked: For Good in 2025. And she’s not slowing down yet! This weekend, she’s hosting Saturday Night Live with Cher as the musical guest. I was so impressed by the dress she wore to promote the show – it’s a clear tribute to Carol Burnett.

After NBC shared a new promo for Grande’s episode of SNL, the “yes, and?” singer took to Instagram to show off her look, which was a yellow, brown, and orange dress that looked incredible on her. However, it didn’t just look incredible, it actually paid homage to comedy legend, Carol Burnett, which Grande made sure to highlight in her post. I’m truly obsessulated, and you will be too after you see this fit:

Celebrity stylist Law Roach, who is Grande’s current stylist, shared on his own Instagram that she was wearing a vintage Bob Mackie dress that was first worn by Burnett on The Carol Burnett Show back in the ‘60s and ‘70s. Considering Burnett is an icon and is one of the women who changed television, it only makes sense that the Wicked star felt the need to pay tribute to her for the last SNL episode of the year.

Ariana Grande and her stylist Law Roach frequently draw inspiration from iconic figures through her fashion choices. During the promotional tour for Wicked, Grande’s first outfit was a sweet nod to The Wizard of Oz. The seemingly simple black dress was actually a vintage piece designed by Gilbert Adrian, the lead costume designer at MGM from 1928 to 1941. Adrian created several memorable looks for the classic film, including Dorothy’s gingham dress, the ruby slippers, and Glinda’s pink gown.

That instance, along with Ariana Grande’s outfit on Saturday Night Live, really shows how carefully she and her stylist, Law Roach, consider the projects they’re supporting and how they can use fashion to tell a story.

You can stream Saturday Night Live and more with Peacock, starting at just $7.99 per month or $79.99 per year. For an ad-free experience and the ability to download shows for offline viewing, consider upgrading to Peacock Premium or Premium Plus. See the deal here.

Ariana Grande often shows appreciation for artists she admires, and she did so beautifully after the passing of Aretha Franklin in 2018. Franklin, a hugely influential singer, left a significant mark on music, and Grande honored her by performing a heartfelt cover of “Natural Woman” on The Tonight Show. The performance was deeply moving.

It’s unclear if Ariana Grande will honor the late comedian Bob Barnett during her upcoming appearance on Saturday Night Live, though he wasn’t ever a cast member. But she’s sure to showcase some amazing outfits during her monologue and thank-you speeches. Considering how great her previous episodes have been, this one promises to be really entertaining. And, excitingly, Cher is making her first musical appearance on SNL in decades! There’s plenty to look forward to – you can watch it on NBC or stream it with a Peacock subscription this Saturday at 11:30 p.m. Eastern Time.
