For years, gamers have enjoyed playing on the go, and now Sony and Honda are making that even easier. The two companies partnered in 2022, creating Sony Honda Mobility, to build electric cars. Their first model, the Afeela 1, launching next year, will let drivers play games from either the PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5.
A key drawback of the Afeela’s entertainment system is how it handles gaming. Sony and Honda aren’t building game consoles directly into the car; instead, it uses PlayStation Remote Play. This means Afeela owners will need to own a PS5 or PS4 at home to play games through the car’s system. It’s important to note that this is different from streaming games through PlayStation Plus – you’ll need the actual console at home.

The vehicles feature built-in screens and high-quality sound for passengers. It’s currently unknown whether a PlayStation controller is included, or if players need to supply their own.
As a huge fan, I was really excited to hear about PS Remote Play coming to the Afeela! According to Sony Honda Mobility’s COO, Izumi Kawanishi, this isn’t just about adding a feature – it’s about totally changing how we feel while we’re traveling. They want to turn the car into a really engaging and fun space, and they think this integration will take in-car entertainment to a whole new level. It’s awesome to see them focusing on the emotional experience of driving!
The Afeela 1 will initially launch in California, with plans to expand across the country later. While it’s expected to be available in 2026, a specific sales date hasn’t been announced yet.
