Funcom has announced more information about the upcoming Chapter 3 update and a new paid downloadable content pack for their open-world survival game, Dune: Awakening.

Chapter 3 is a major update focused on improving the endgame experience, and it also introduces the ‘Raiders of the Broken Lands’ DLC, which you can purchase separately. Funcom, the company behind the open-world survival game Dune: Awakening, just announced details about its upcoming free update, Chapter 3. The update is inspired by Frank Herbert’s Dune novels and the recent blockbuster films by Denis Villeneuve and Legendary Entertainment.

Chapter 3 Free Update: Bigger and Better Endgame

Chapter 3 includes many improvements and new features based on what players have asked for. A common request was to add more ways to progress after reaching tier 6, and this chapter focuses on that. Players will now have more options and rewarding paths for advancement, whether they enjoy player-versus-environment challenges or other game modes.

According to Joel Bylos, Creative Director for Dune: Awakening, this update is designed to improve the endgame experience for players and set the stage for future content. The Landsraad system has been completely overhauled, and players now have more ways to earn rewards both on their own and with others. We’ve also added more ranks within factions and a new Specialization system. The update introduces new areas to explore, complete with fresh missions and challenging Testing Stations that offer increasing rewards. Ultimately, we want to give players more choices and things to do as they progress further into the game.

This isn’t a complete list of everything new, but Chapter 3 is by far the largest update to Dune: Awakening since the game first came out, with tons of changes, improvements, and added content.

The game’s combat system has been enhanced with the addition of Dual Blades and the Pyrocket, and the Rapier weapon has been completely updated. Plus, the story continues in Chapter 3, picking up right after the events of Chapter 2, and offering many more hours of survival gameplay focused on narrative.

Raiders of the Broken Lands Paid DLC: More Stuff to Build With

Alongside the major free update for Chapter 3, we’re releasing the ‘Raiders of the Broken Lands’ DLC, which is included with the Season Pass. Players have been asking for more building options, and this DLC delivers! It adds a huge collection of 73 new building pieces and 17 decorations themed around the Imperium’s Smugglers. You’ll also get a special stillsuit outfit, plus light and heavy armor sets, new weapon styles, customization options, and emotes.
