The initial downloadable content for Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord is expected to release within the next few months, though further delays are always possible. Some players feel TaleWorlds has been quiet about the ‘War Sails’ DLC, especially with the recent release of a large beta update. However, there’s actually quite a bit of information available if you look closely, and I believe I’ve determined which ship will be the most powerful when it arrives.
The ultimate warship in Bannerlord War Sails
War Sails is adding exciting naval battles, realistic and changing weather, a new Nord faction, and lots of ships you can personalize. As usual, there’s likely to be one ship that’s significantly stronger than all the others – the kind that instantly turns the tide of battle. I think I’ve discovered what that ship is.
The dromon was a warship used by the Byzantine Empire from the 5th to the 12th centuries. It was the empire’s primary ship for quick attacks and coastal defense. Often equipped with Greek fire, it was essentially a fast, powerful warship – similar to a modern destroyer – known for its speed, maneuverability, and strong weaponry.
In a recent YouTube short, the developers described the Dromon as “the heaviest and toughest warship in Calradia,” which is a significant claim. However, the Dromon isn’t the only new ship they’ve showcased lately; they’ve also revealed the Ghurab.
The Ghurab was a common ship throughout the Middle East and Mediterranean, particularly during the Islamic Golden Age. While inspired by Byzantine ships like the Dromon, the Ghurab was lighter and faster, making it ideal for swift raids and piracy. Though capable in larger battles, I believe the Dromon featured in *War Sails* will prove to be the most powerful ship. We’ll see for sure once the new DLC is released, but I expect most players will initially focus on the Nord faction and their Drakkars.
