With Zootopia 2 earning over $1 billion in just two weeks, a third movie is almost guaranteed. One suggestion, coming from the writer’s son, is a cameo by Keanu Reeves playing a character named (you won’t believe this!) “Baba Llama.”

As a huge animation fan, I’ve been loving the buzz around Disney’s latest! It’s about this amazing city filled with animals who all live together, and it’s become the biggest movie of the year. I just saw that Jared Bush, one of the creative minds behind the original Zootopia and now the writer and co-director of the sequel, went on X to express his gratitude to everyone who’s gone to see it. It’s awesome to see such a positive response!
We’re so grateful to everyone around the world who’s gone to see #Zootopia2 in theaters! To mark the occasion, we’re starting a Q&A now! First up: why is Nick wearing pink? It’s a nod to Judy wearing pink in the first Zootopia, showing how she’s positively influenced him.

During a recent interview, George Bush was asked who he’d choose to appear in a movie role or cameo for a third film. He responded that he loves the John Wick movies and his son really wants him to ask Keanu Reeves to play a llama, inspired by his action hero persona. Bush joked, “I can’t think of a better cameo than that.”
I absolutely love the John Wick movies. My son really wants Keanu Reeves to make a cameo as a character called “The Baba Llama,” and honestly, it’s a brilliant idea!

If Reeves agrees, it’s an idea so crazy it just might work.
The Baba Yaga
I remember when John Wick came out in 2014 – it was such a fantastic comeback for Keanu Reeves as an action star! It really kicked off this totally fresh and unique franchise. The story centers around a retired hitman who’s forced back into action when some criminals harm his puppy. What’s really cool is that within the world of assassins, he’s a legend known as “Baba Yaga,” which is this spooky figure from Russian folklore. It adds such a great layer to the character and the whole universe of the films.

Keanu Reeves in the John Wick: Chapter 4 trailer – YouTube, Lionsgate
I’ve been completely hooked on the John Wick universe! There are four amazing movies so far, and they’re already working on a fifth! It’s expanded beyond the films too – last year, we got a peek into the world with The Continental on Peacock. And just recently, Ana de Armas starred in Ballerina, a spin-off that, sadly, had a bit of a rough time at the box office, even after they brought Keanu Reeves in for some extra filming. I really hope it finds its audience though, because I’m invested in everything connected to this world!
Just because Keanu Reeves is in a movie doesn’t automatically make it a hit. His recent film, Good Fortune, only earned $6 million domestically when it opened last October, despite him starring in it. However, he’s still a big attraction as John Wick, and including a parody of that character in Zootopia 3 is likely to create a lot of excitement.
It wouldn’t be the first time Reeves has lent his voice to an animated project.
Hedgehogs and Llamas
Keanu Reeves made a surprisingly popular appearance in last year’s Sonic the Hedgehog 3, bringing the tough and reserved qualities of his character John Wick to the voice of the enigmatic alien hedgehog, Shadow. Many reviewers felt his performance was a highlight of the film. He’s anticipated to reprise the role in the upcoming Sonic 4, and there’s also a possibility he’ll be involved in a planned spin-off project.

I’d be so excited if Disney brought Keanu Reeves on board to playfully poke fun at his John Wick character in a potential Zootopia 3! Imagine him as ‘Baba Llama’ – it would be hilarious to see that iconic role reimagined for a family audience. As a fan of both Zootopia and John Wick, I think it’d be amazing to see how they could make one of cinema’s toughest guys work in a more lighthearted setting. It’s a fun idea that could really appeal to fans of both franchises.
A Joke to Reality
While a third Zootopia movie isn’t confirmed yet, the ending of the last film suggests more stories could happen in that universe. If the idea of Keanu Reeves making a cameo – originally a joke – gains traction, there’s still time to involve him and create the character fans have nicknamed “Baba Llama.”
