A demo for Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is out now for Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S, giving players a taste of the full game which launches in a month. Plus, you can pick up right where you left off in the full game thanks to carry-over save data, letting you start Cloud’s adventure in Midgar right away.
The official Final Fantasy account on X (formerly Twitter) revealed a holiday treat for fans of Final Fantasy VII Remake: a playable demo of the game’s first chapter. Players who try the demo will receive the Revival Earrings and Survival Set items when the full game releases on January 22nd. The announcement also confirmed that the complete trilogy is heading to Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox consoles, after previously being exclusive to PlayStation.

The upcoming release of Final Fantasy VII Remake on Switch 2 and Xbox will include a very easy mode, letting players complete battles without ever being defeated. This is part of a set of features designed to make the game more accessible. Players on Switch 2 should also know that the game is quite large – between 90 and 99 GB – which could require managing storage space, as the console only has 256 GB of internal memory.
I was so excited when Final Fantasy VII Remake first came out on PS4 back in 2020! Then, in 2021, they released an updated version called Intergrade for PS5 and PC, which added a whole new story chapter starring Yuffie. Luckily, that’s the same version that’s now coming to the Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S. And just recently, in 2024, the second game in the trilogy, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, finally dropped – it’s been amazing following this whole journey!
