Dead Island 3 officially in production with release window revealed

Although Dead Island 2 came out in 2023, Dambuster Studios isn’t finished with the series. They’ve now confirmed that Dead Island 3 is officially in development.

The Dead Island games throw you into a zombie apocalypse, but they’re more about fun and creativity than genuine horror. Instead of being scary, the series focuses on over-the-top weapons, colorful locations, and quirky characters. Who wouldn’t enjoy taking down zombies with something ridiculous like a stop sign or Wolverine claws?

After the success of the previous games, a third Dead Island game is officially being made! Dambuster Studios has confirmed that Dead Island 3 is in development, though it won’t be available for a while.

Dead Island 3 given a 2028 release window

Dambuster Studios is now concentrating its efforts on developing Dead Island 3, according to their latest financial report. The report indicates that early stages of development are well underway, with significant progress being made on the game’s features, characters, world, and story.

So, they’re really at the beginning of making this game, which explains why they’re saying it’ll be out sometime in early to mid-2028. Honestly, with how early in development they are, a few years of waiting makes total sense to me.

Based on the current information, the game will probably be available on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. Considering its planned release in 2028, it’s expected to launch on the newest consoles – likely the PS6 and the next Xbox, which are both anticipated to be released around that time (with the next Xbox potentially arriving in 2027).

Dead Island 3 will probably be set in a new location. Since the last game took place in Los Angeles, the next one will likely be somewhere else entirely.

We’ll update this article with more details about Dead Island 3 as soon as new information becomes available, so please check back soon.
