Xbox Developer Direct Confirmed For January 2026, But It Won’t Have Everything

Microsoft revealed that a new Xbox Developer Direct stream will air in January 2026. However, this broadcast won’t include all of the content Microsoft has planned for Xbox’s 25th anniversary celebrations next year.

I was reading Variety and Matt Booty, who heads up Xbox Game Studios, let slip that they’ve got a ton of games planned to release in 2026. It sounds like we’re in for a big year!

During the January 2026 Developer Direct, Matt Booty announced that the upcoming Fable and Forza Horizon 6 will be featured. He also hinted at even more game announcements next year, saying they have so much content that it won’t all fit into a single show.

Aaron Greenberg, who leads marketing for Xbox, hinted that the team is working on something exciting to release next year.

Booty hinted that Microsoft has several exciting projects planned for release in 2026, coinciding with the company’s 25th anniversary. He described 2026 as a significant year for the brand and its most popular franchises, promising a major impact across the gaming industry.

In 2026, several major gaming companies and franchises will hit significant milestones. Bethesda will celebrate 40 years, Blizzard 35, and the original Diablo will turn 30. Halo will also reach its 25th anniversary, and to mark the occasion, Microsoft is releasing Halo: Combat Evolved on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Many people are hoping Microsoft will share details about their next gaming console in 2026, but it’s still uncertain if they will.

Also, the Xbox game South of Midnight will be released on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026.
