In Octopath Traveler II, rebuilding the town of Wishvale involves completing requests from its people. Once you advance the ‘Rekindling of the Flame’ quest, you’ll encounter Jasper, who won’t come back to Wishvale until you find a particular herb for him.

Jasper needs Herb Avinea to heal from his injuries, but it’s a rare item you can’t simply grow yourself – finding it will be a challenge.

Here is where you can find the elusive Herb Avinea in Octopath Traveler 0.

Octopath Traveler II doesn’t make it easy to find Herb Avinea – you’ll have to actively search for it. Jasper will only tell you it grows in the highlands, and that you might find it for sale with desert merchants.

You can find Herb Avinea in the town of Sunshade, located in the desert. By this point in the game, you’ll likely have already visited Shepherd’s Rock, which is east of Sunshade. If you haven’t been to Sunshade yet, just travel west from Shepherd’s Rock to get there.

Once you arrive, head to the bar at the back of town. You’ll find a lot of interesting people there to talk to, including a character known as the Collector of Rare Items.

The Collector of Rare Items is selling only one thing: Avinea. It’s quite expensive, costing 20,000 Leaves, but you might be able to get it for 10,000 if you negotiate a lower price.

Leaves can be hard to come by in Octopath Traveler, as they require a good amount of money to obtain. However, it is possible to find them without spending any money, if you know where to look.

Herb Avinea can be found growing in the highlands near Shepherd’s Rock. To learn the precise location, talk to the Peddler of Diverse Goods, who is located just north of the fountain in town.

Buy Apinea from the seller, and he’ll point out the difference between it and Avinea, as the two herbs are easily mistaken for each other. He’ll then tell you where to find Avinea: the Cavern of Mists.

Start at Shepherd’s Rock and head east. Then, follow the path heading northeast to reach the Cavern of Mists. This area is designed for level 33 players, so be careful if you’re slightly lower level. By now, you should also be familiar with how to change rows to help you navigate.

To find the Herb Avinea, head into the Cavern of Mists and turn right at the first fork in the path. Continue east until you reach another split, then take the southern path. Follow this path all the way to the end, and you’ll discover the herb. You can then give it to Jasper to progress the quest.
