Among the games revealed at The Game Awards, Orbitals, which will only be available on the Nintendo Switch 2, stands out as particularly delightful with its nostalgic anime-inspired look.
Orbitals is a cooperative adventure game for two players. You and a friend take on the roles of Maki and Omura, working together to protect their home from a strange, powerful storm in space. The game’s first trailer showcases its beautiful art style, reminiscent of 1980s anime, and demonstrates how players will explore space and solve puzzles as a team.
The trailer demonstrated the cooperative gameplay by showing two players working together: one piloting a spaceship and the other controlling its turret. In another scene, one player used a levitating beam to move a puzzle piece while the other carefully jumped across dangerous platforms.
Currently, details about the game are limited. It’s being published by Kepler Interactive and created by Shapefarm, a development studio based in Tokyo. Orbitals is planned to launch as a Switch 2 exclusive in 2026.
The Game Awards featured a ton of exciting game reveals this year. Highlights included a new cooperative shooter by the creator of Left 4 Dead, and the next installment in Remedy’s Control series. Unexpected announcements also included a new Dungeons & Dragons game, a Star Wars racing game, and a fresh shooter from some of the team behind Apex Legends.
