Black Torch anime to premiere in July 2026
The anime version of Black Torch is officially happening and is scheduled to come out in July 2026. This is the first news we’ve had from the creators in quite a while.
The series’ website revealed the news, along with a new trailer and character poster. These visuals give fans their first extended look at the anime adaptation of Tsuyoshi Takaki’s manga.
The stars of the upcoming project will likely be at Jump Festa 2026 on December 21st for a special event to get fans excited. Ryota Suzuki, Yoji Ueda, Sayaka Sembongi, and Junya Enoki are all confirmed to attend, where they’re expected to talk about making the project and share more details about their characters.
100studio is producing the anime, and Kei Umabiki is directing it. Gigaemon Ichikawa is writing the scripts and overseeing the story, and Go Suzuki is designing the characters. Yutaka Yamada is composing the music.
Black Torch is based on Takaki’s manga of the same name, telling the story of Jiro Azuma, a young man who can talk to animals. According to publisher VIZ Media, Jiro’s gift leads to trouble when a strange cat merges with him. This gives him new abilities and throws him into a secret battle between mononoke – incredibly powerful spirits.
The manga was originally published between 2017 and 2018, starting in Jump Square and later continuing on Shonen Jump+. It has been compiled into a total of five volumes.
