Spotify has at last updated how free users can enjoy music on its service.
For years, Spotify has been a favorite way for people to listen to music. While there’s a free version, a premium subscription unlocks the full Spotify experience.
With Spotify Premium, you can create custom playlists, enjoy daily mixes tailored to your music taste, listen to exclusive podcasts, explore audiobooks, and experience high-quality, lossless audio.
Listeners who don’t pay for a subscription could still enjoy music, but their experience included advertisements, similar to listening to the radio. They were also limited to shuffle play, meaning they couldn’t choose the specific order of the songs.
Spotify free plan gets a whole load of new features
Spotify is updating its free service to allow users to play any song they search for, offering more control over their listening experience.
Can’t get a song out of your head? Spotify’s ‘Pick and Play’ feature lets you quickly find and play any track you like. Just type the song title and start listening right away.
Spotify is now offering personalized playlists like Daily Mix and Daylist to all users, even those using the free version. Free users can also view song lyrics and use features like Discover Weekly and Release Radar to find new music and stay updated on releases from their favorite artists.

These updates will improve the free version, making it feel more like the premium version, but some features will still only be available to paying users.
This features upcoming improvements like high-quality, lossless audio, smooth transitions between songs in playlists, and the ability to generate playlists simply by describing what you want with AI.
