Remember comedian Dane Cook? Colin Jost’s impression of Fox News host Pete Hegseth does, and it was the focus of Saturday Night Live’s cold open. Jost portrays Hegseth as overly aggressive, even giving him a dramatic entrance theme like a wrestler. The sketch jokingly suggests Cook’s old bit, “Superfinger,” is now the official justification for military action against Venezuela. Hegseth’s character refuses to discuss casualties from drone strikes, but flippantly says he’d enjoy a drink for every Venezuelan killed. Meanwhile, James Austin Johnson’s portrayal of Trump is asleep and fantasizing about Zohran Mamdani. Trump claims he fully supports Hegseth, but will quickly betray him if it benefits himself, even throwing him under a bus. It’s clear Trump has a strong infatuation with Mamdani.
