Four people were arrested after protesting at the Tower of London by throwing custard and apple crumble at the case holding the Imperial State Crown. The Jewel House was temporarily closed following the incident.
Video of the incident, which took place on December 6th and rapidly circulated online, showed one person spreading apple crumble over the glass case protecting the Crown Jewels, and another throwing custard. Authorities confirmed the jewels themselves weren’t harmed, and the room was reopened later that day after the mess was cleaned up.

Almost 1,000 years old, the Tower of London started as a fortress. Over time, it served as a prison, and now it’s a popular spot for tourists to visit.
This strange act of vandalism, though not as serious as disrespecting the Royal Family, happened just weeks after a similar incident in Australia. There, a teenager was accused of gluing googly eyes onto an $88,000 sculpture.
