Disney+ has released a brand new, two-part Marvel adventure! Titled LEGO Marvel Avengers: Strange Tails, this animated special features Earth’s most powerful heroes teaming up to stop a villainous influencer – who also happens to love cats – from destroying everything.
LEGO Marvel Avengers: Strange Tails is a first for Marvel on Disney+ – it’s the first Marvel story told in two parts. All previous Marvel shows and specials on the platform have either been longer than two parts, or consisted of just one episode – like all other LEGO Marvel specials.
Marvel’s most recent streaming series before Strange Tails, Marvel Zombies, was released as four episodes, each around thirty minutes long.
Both episodes of the new animated special, LEGO Marvel Avengers: Strange Tails, are now available to watch on Disney+. The show isn’t connected to the main Marvel Cinematic Universe and features voice acting from Troy Baker, Catherine Taber, Roger Craig Smith, Jason Alexander, and Laura Bailey, who recently discussed her work on another popular series.
The 5 Major Teams Appearing in LEGO Marvel Avengers: Strange Tails
The Avengers
The new animated Avengers special naturally features the core Avengers team. You’ll see the classic lineup, including heroes like Hawkeye, both Captain Americas (Steve Rogers and Sam Wilson), Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, Black Panther, and Iron Man.
In Strange Tails, Earth’s greatest heroes face off against a puzzling, cat-like enemy from another world – the villain known as Meryet.
The Brotherhood of Evil Mutants
Another powerful team featured in Strange Tails is The Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. This group of villains acts as a major challenge for the Avengers, serving as their main enemy before they face Meryet and the Evil Avengers.
LEGO Avengers‘ Brotherhood of Evil Mutants is made up of Magneto, Sabertooth, Juggernaut, and Pyro.
The Cat-Vengers
Ultimately, LEGO Marvel Avengers: Strange Tails is a story designed for people who love cats and comic books. It’s fitting, then, that the story introduces a brand-new superhero team called the Cat-Vengers.
The team – consisting of Black Cat, Tigra, Black Panther, and White Tiger – is assembled by Hawkeye (Clint Barton) because of their unique skills and knowledge related to felines, and tasked with stopping the villain Meryet.
Meryet & The Evil Avengers
In the game LEGO Marvel Avengers: Strange Tails, the main villain is Meryet, a truly frightening character. She used to be a regular social media influencer who loved cats, but she turned to evil after the Avengers didn’t acknowledge her help during a major rescue operation.
After obtaining a strange staff, she used her influence to mentally control several Avengers – including Hulk, Black Widow, both Captain Americas (Steve Rogers and Sam Wilson), and Thor. She rebranded them as the Evil Avengers, and they began fighting against Hawkeye and a team called the Cat-Vengers.
The Naughty List
Once Meryet is defeated and the Avengers are freed from her influence, Strange Tails hints at another team of super-powered individuals. A short scene after the credits shows a snowy cabin filled with some of Marvel’s most notorious villains.
Suddenly, the group is revealed to be called The Naughty List, and Santa Claus himself arrives to battle them! This supervillain team includes Terrax, The Collector, Omega Red, Thanos, Red Ghost, Red Skull, Magneto, Attuma, Klaw, and Titania.
