Milla Jovovich takes on the role of a determined mother fighting to rescue her daughter in the new action thriller directed by Adrian Grunberg. Forget Liam Neeson – this movie has a new hero!
I just heard about this new movie, Protector, and it sounds intense! It’s about a former soldier, Nikki, played by Milla Jovovich, who’s trying to live a quiet life after years of fighting. But her world gets turned upside down when her daughter is kidnapped by human traffickers. From what I understand, she immediately dives headfirst into a really dangerous criminal world to get her daughter back. Sounds like a gripping rescue mission!
Nikki’s a trained fighter who takes on a dangerous criminal organization. Her actions quickly get the attention of law enforcement and the military, making her a top fugitive. Now, she must rely on the skills she’d hoped to leave behind to rescue her daughter in a desperate race against time.
Milla Jovovich, known for The Fifth Element, leads a cast including Matthew Modine (Full Metal Jacket), D.B. Sweeney (The Cutting Edge), Michael Stahl-David (Cloverfield), Texas Battle (Final Destination 3), Yoko Hamamura (Dune: Part One), Don Harvey (Pam & Tommy), Gabriel Sloyer (The Better Sister), and Isabel Myers (Mixed-ish) in a desperate and violent attempt to bring a mother and daughter back together before time runs out.
‘Protector’ Trailer Delivers Action That Packs a Punch
The trailer for Protector shows Nikki struggling to juggle her demanding life as a soldier deployed in combat with being a supportive and loving mother to her daughter. We see her switching between intense battlefield action – driving tanks and using explosives – and heartfelt moments like phone calls home and celebrating birthdays from overseas.
I was trained in the skills of taking a life, but no one ever taught me how to create one – how to be a parent and raise a child. I’m completely self-taught in that area.
What should have been a relaxing homecoming turns into a nightmare for Nikki when she witnesses her daughter being kidnapped. Knowing the next 72 hours are critical, Nikki launches a relentless pursuit, drawing on her military training to track down the kidnappers. She’ll stop at nothing – even resorting to dangerous tactics like ramming through traffic and confronting anyone who stands in her way – to get her daughter back.
The trailer ends with a tense standoff. Nikki points her gun at a man she has pinned down and demands information about someone’s location, offering to spare his life if he talks. When he claims he isn’t the one in charge but will try to assist, she cuts him off, declaring she doesn’t need his help before firing a shot.
Get ready for an action-packed movie with intense chases and exciting battles! Protector arrives in theaters on February 20, 2026.
